  • Christmas Stuff

We got our tree a couple weeks ago. We had fun visiting the local tree farm to pick out a noble fir.

We stopped for burritos before we went to the tree farm :)

Lewis cuts down the perfect tree.

    Evander the lumberjack.

Lewis dragged the five-foot tree almost the whole way to the front of the farm.

The boys had fun decorating the little tree. The tree has since lost most of its ornaments (only the top foot and a half is decorated now!)

We also baked and decorated a couple of gingerbread houses.

And, here's a pic of Gideon at around 2 months old.

  • Gideon & Firemen

Here's Gideon-frog! He's already getting more pink and less newborn red.

I made the boys some fireman costumes out of polo shirts, duct tape, sweat pants, and foam stickers. The photos are crummy because it was night when the boys tried the costumes on. I don't think it'd be worth dressing them up in them right now and taking pics because it's as dark as night outside (even though it's daytime).

  • Pumpkin Day

Today we had fun together with a pumpkin theme. I cut out pumpkin-y shapes and the boys glued them onto paper.

Evander ate a lot of glue, too. That was his form of crafting.

Lewis drew some faces on the pumpkins. He drew a "big eye, little eye" which made a "zombie pumpkin." (Don't get the wrong idea... he only knows the term "zombie" from this game called Plants vs. Zombies... it's cute, not scary.

He wrote his name very stylistically.

We carved some small pumpkins (after making pumpkin oatmeal raisin cookies - evidence is on Lewis' face).

Evander's job was to rinse the seeds. We'll toast them tonight or maybe tomorrow. This was Lewis' idea - I guess he remembers it from last year!

Here's Lewis' standard posed smile. Ha ha!

Lewis wanted to take a photo of the seeds.

Later we took the fun outside.

I noticed how pretty the leaves outside were, and that it is supposed to rain tomorrow, so I thought I better try to get some leafy photos.

The boys broke into spontaneous leaf angels. I don't know where they got that!

Lewis must have learned how to do it last year... that kid has quite the memory.

We took a ton more leafy photos... more later.

    Evander did his "trick."

I declare Pumpkin Day a success. After the cookies were made, Lewis said "Mmm, these smell so good! These taste so good! Thanks, mom!" - he has NEVER willingly said thanks for anything that I can recall... I think he was saying thanks for the quality time, though.

  • Gideon, 9 days old

Since we didn't take that many photos in the hospital, and we didn't have many hospital visitors due to the strict swine flu rules (and our visitors usually tote with them many cameras), I have made an effort to take more pictures of Gideon during the past few days.

See on the right side of his head (the right side of the picture, I should say... the left side of his head), he has a little bubble - it's from when they used the suction cup/vacuum thing to pull him out during the c-section.

These jammies are handmedowns from brother Evander (a gift from Mommie & Popi, not so long ago!)

Gideon's hair looks pretty red in photos! In real life it looks more brownish red. We'll see what it looks like when it starts coming in properly.

He is awake for about 3 hours a day now... but it's nice that newborns sleep so much (at least, when you get to #3 it is! It helps for making the transition to managing so many little monkeys at once! I remember with Lewis, I wanted him to be awake a LOT more when he was a newborn, so I could play with him...)

This beautiful quilt was made by my Dollar Store Crafts contributor, Care! It is the most beautifully made quilt, and the colors and fabrics are fabulous! Soooo lucky! Glad Gideon has a few of his own little blankies!

    A momentary fuss.

Brothers! Look how big! And small...

    More brothers!

    Evander and Gideon = cozy

    Cheese!

Lewis likes to point out Gideon's little body parts. He always says "Oh! Look at his little eyes! Look at his little pinky!"

    Little and big.

  • Gideon Arthur is born!

    Gideon Arthur, born 10/10/09
    7 lbs, 7 oz
    21" long

Here he is a few minutes after he was born.

    Bundle

The next day. We both look puffy!

    Getting ready to go home.

We got to leave the hospital the next day after the c-section, which is basically unheard of. It's only because we had a really proactive nurse who asked me at the beginning of the day "So, what are your goals for today?" I told her I didn't want to leave three days from then, so she said "Well, let's see what we can do about that!"
